GREETINGS to the people of Kokstad.

Indigent subsidy registration

The Greater Kokstad Municipality is updating its database of indigent people as required by the national government for the 2015/2016 financial year and applications are now open. Everyone who has an account with the municipality and who own property(s) within the parameters of the municipality must apply. People with a combined income of R2 820 a month are invited to go to venues in their respective wards and apply.

Existing beneficiaries are advised to reapply as their financial status might have changed. Application forms are available at the Customer Care Centre from now until 29 May. Here are scheduled times and dates for registration. Until 30 April the GKM indigent support team will be in Ward 3 at the community hall from 8.30am to 3.30pm.

4 to 8 May the team will be in Ward 1 JJ Mhlongo Hall from 8.30am to 3.30pm.

11 to 15 May, from 8.30am to 3.30pm, Wards 5 and 8 will be done together at Thuntulwana Hall.

18 to 22 May, Wards 7 and 4 will assemble at Shayamoya hall from 8.30am to 3.30pm.

People are advised to keep these dates in mind in order for them to register and qualify for the indigent subsidy. They need to be the registered owner of the house and the market value of your property must not exceed R600 000. If you own more than one property you will be subsidised for only one property which you are permanently residing in.

We urge the community to make use of this opportunity.

Mayoral imbizo rescheduled

The mayoral imbizo is now scheduled for 6 May at Franklin sports field starting at 10am. You are all invited.
