GREETINGS to the people of Kokstad.

GKM holds successful mayoral imbizo

Greater Kokstad Municipality held a successful mayoral imbizo at Franklin last Thursday when Kokstad mayor TN Jojozi gave an update on developmental issues in Kokstad. This is yet another viable approach to strengthen community participation. Community members were thrilled to hear that even though their municipality has financial problems it still continues to bring service delivery to its people.

Many projects are completed with others close to completion - this shows that GKM is on a quest to improve people’s lives for the better.

Stop illegal buildings

The municipality’s responsibility is to create a sustainable development to the people of Kokstad, but it is also the responsibility of the community not to undermine the work done by the municipality by building illegal buildings.

An illegal building is any building or development that is built without consent from the municipality, as it may pose health hazards. The municipality has a building department for building queries emulating during construction, from setting out the foundation to last touch-up drainage systems. People are urged to visit our building department to avoid uncertainties like floods and fires.

Indigent support ongoing registration

This week the GKM indigent support team is servicing Ward 5 and Ward 8 at Thuntulwana Hall. Community members from both wards are advised to make way to the hall early to avoid long queues, especially in the afternoon. This also serves as a reminder to Ward 4 and Ward 7 residents that those wards will be serviced from 18 to 22 May at Shayamoya hall. NB: Existing beneficiaries are advised to also reapply as their financial status might change
