Greater Kokstad Municipality viewpoint

GREETINGS to the people of Kokstad.

Operation MBO

The Greater Kokstad Municipality and stakeholders will host operation MBO to the Franklin community on 22 Ma. This operation comes after the OSS team saw a backlash in providing government services, especially to the Quarters informal settlement community.

The Franklin community in need of an ID, birth certificates, social grant and health services are urged to come to Quarters on that day. This is another way of bringing service delivery to the people.

Postponement of minister’s social development visit

Social development Minister Bathabile Dlamini was to visit Kokstad on 24 May for Child Protection Week. Her visit has been postponed to 31 May on the Franklin sports field. We apologise for any inconvenience. They say it takes a village to raise a child and it is also everybody’s responsibility to protect children and is a daily responsibility. The community is urged to come in their numbers to this event.

Skills development under way

The municipality has a responsibility of creating sustainable local economic development for the people of Kokstad.

On 25 and 26 March we assembled at the Riverview Stadium for Seta skills development registration. About 800 people registered on those days. It is a pleasure to tell the Kokstad people that training is anticipated to begin in June.

Seta said the majority of people chose learnerships and plumbing as their choice. The response that people gave regarding skills development was overwhelming and if we continue like this we can move Kokstad to greater heights. Inkosi inibusise
