Greater Kokstad Municipality viewpoint

GREETINGS to the people of Kokstad.
Road accidents during the festive season
The festive season is fast approaching and during this time we are confronted by many road accidents. Some can be prevented if road users adhere to the rules of the road. This is a time where everyone should be vigilant on the road. I was pleased to see that on Friday 23 October all law enforcement agencies were at the Kokstad junction inspecting vehicles entering and leaving the town.
The teams consisted of district municipalities, RTI, Home Affairs, SAPS and Eastern Cape Traffic Department. This is the beginning of ongoing road blocks that will take place in Kokstad. We want to make sure that we contribute zero percent to road fatality statistics. We urge motorists to make sure their vehicle is in good condition, especially those who transport the public, and remember, speed kills.

Matric examinations
The 2015 matric examinations started on Monday on a positive note. In Kokstad we have not heard anything negative about the examinations. Our prayers are with pupils who are writing exams. We know that during this time sometimes there are disturbances that might affect pupils. I urge the community to unite and pray that the examinations go smoothly. Our hope is to see Kokstad pupils counted as being among the best in the province, and maybe nationally. We are confident that our schools will do us proud and we cannot wait for January 2016.

Kokstad Road Accident Fund
The Road Accident Fund will be in Kokstad on 7 November at Roman Catholic Church at 9am. They are here to assist the people of Kokstad who are in need of their service. It may happen that you or a relative was involved in an accident, and this is your opportunity to be assisted in the claim process. When lodging your claim you need to have all necessary documents like accident reports, identity documents and other necessary documents. I urge the community to use this opportunity fruitfully.
