Mayor Momelezi Mbedla to engage with Matatiele stakeholders

Matatiele Local Municipality is o strengthen relations with its stakeholders. The mayor, Cllr Momelezi Mbedla, will meet stakeholders on 18 May at Matatiele Town Hall to discuss ways and strategies of building Matatiele Local Municipality to be a better place in which to live.

The mayor will also table the draft budget for 2015-2016 for comment. This also forms part of promoting transparency on municipal plans and programmes.

The stakeholder engagement will be followed by a panel discussion focussing on strategies of transforming Matatiele Local Municipality. The session will be held under the theme “Working Together In Developing Matatiele Local Municipality”.

Registration on municipality supplier database

In compliance with the Preferential Policy Framework Act (Act No. 5 of 2000), the Matatiele Local Municipality invites prospective suppliers and/or service providers and companies to register on its supplier database.

The municipality will not do business with any supplier who is not accredited and registered on the database.

Suppliers who are already registered are advised to update their documents and information as soon as possible.

Unity and peace in Matatiele march

The country recently faced attacks against foreign nationals which created a very negative image of South Africa.

The challenges experienced highlighted social drifts that exist between community groups. Since then the government has implemented various strategies aimed at promoting peace and social integration of citizens.

Therefore community members are requested to be part of a march aimed at promoting unity and peace in Matatiele. The march take place on 22 May from 9am. Assembly point is traffic open grounds. The theme is “Stop attacks on foreign nationals, we are all Africans”.

Energy Month

May has been declared Energy Month. The underlying motivation for the annual Energy Month is to communicate and create awareness among citizens on energy efficiency, engage key stakeholders in heightening awareness of South Africans on the need for energy efficiency and thereby creating a culture of energy-saving when the season changes from warm to cold.

The theme is “Together we move South Africa Forward” and aims to promote an energy mix which aims to transform the economy.

Public notice: community residential units programme

The public is invited to a Community Residential Units Housing Programme meeting at the town hall in Matatiele on 16 May at 3pm.
