Matatiele Local Municipality viewpoint

2015-06-19 06:00

WARM greeting to the readers of this viewpoint. 660 Ramafole households get onto the electrification grid The Deputy Minister of Energy, ambassador Thembisile Majola and Matatiele Local Municipality Mayor visited Ramafole, a village located in Matatiele on 15 June. The aim of the visit was to hand over the completed electrification project of 660 households connected to the national electrification grid by Eskom under the electrification budget allocated to the Matatiele Local Municipality by the Department of Energy. Political principals and management visited two families (Juqu and Mothapa) and provided groceries, electric appliances and furniture worth R10 000 to each. Addressing Ward 24, Majola assured the community that government is working hard to respond to their needs especially in terms of addressing the electricity backlog. He asked the public to be cautious with electricity and never perform illegal connections.

The visit of the deputy minister formed part of the department’s inspection of the electrification programme and stakeholder engagement process on energy-related issues.

As part of taking government services to the people, Sassa, Home Affairs, SAPS and Department of Health provided services on wheels to the community of Ward 24. A word of gratitude is extended to departments. The IGR forum is functional.
