YOUTH motivational speaker, radio show host and founder of a youth organisation - 5Gand#039;s - Nombini Maqelana - known as Mamisto - hosted a young women’s empowerment event in the Maluti Methodist Church recently.

5Gand#039;s, which stands for Guys and Girls Gathering for Godand#039;s Glory, is a Christian organisation that seeks to inspire and advise young people on life issues. The theme of the interdenominational gathering was “Preserving your beauty.”

Mrs Thekiso, a retired nurse, explained the importance of maintaining a healthy and clean body.

“You are what you eat, [so] mind what you eat. Keep yourself away from drugs. You’ve got one body, respect and value every part of your body, run away from being sexually active outside of marriage,” she said.

Ntombikayise Zeka, quoted the Bible - 1 Timothy 2: 3-5 when she encouraged the girls to live a life connected to God.

“Christ is the only mediator between man and God,” she said.

She advised the young ladies to differentiate between love and lust.

“Lust does not last, love is not conditional, it does not seek to gratify sexual needs. Charm and crushes are like airtime - they are quick to disappear, she said.

The girls received Bibles and a motivational DVD by Mamisto titled Fore Warned Is Fore Armed
