Agri-tourism to boost local economy

2018-09-14 06:00

THE Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma Municipality will continue to be a pioneer development with the new initiative of agri-tourism set to change the fortunes of community members. Agri-tourism will lead the municipality to new pathways as it involves using agricultural based operations to bring visitors to farms.

On August 27, an agreement was signed between Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Municipality tourism unit and Underberg Farmers Association to transform the economic landscape of communities and to bring forth educational elements.

The Duzi 2 Sani 4X4 Expedition event, which will be held next month, will also receive much support from local farmers. “Promotion of tourism will bring many benefits to people and agri-tourism has the capacity to create more sources of income and jobs for people,” said Andile Zwezwe, the Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma Municipality tourism manager. Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma Municipality communication officer Sikhumbuzo Sethuntsa said public and private partnerships will play a critical role in the growing of rural economy and social cohesion in people.
