SIPHELELE NKETOsiphelele@media24.com THE amaHlubi nation celebrated their heritage in Kokstad last Saturday, along with Griquas and other clans, and unity was promoted. Nyakaza Radebe, from the royal house of amaHlubi in Escort, was the keynote speaker on behalf of King Langalibalele II of amaHlubi, who did not attend as expected. Radebe called for amaHlubi everywhere to unite and keep their tradition alive.“AmaHlubi must come in numbers on October 7 when we celebrate our tradition in Escort. We want our children to know where we come from.” A Kokstad amaHlubi, Benny Khobo, thanked sponsors who made the event successful and the Greater Kokstad Municipality, SAPS, chiefs, amaHlubi and guests for attending. “People must love and respect one another. Young people need to be truthful to succeed in life,” said Khobo. AmaHlubi are still claiming their kingship after it was disqualified years ago. The Supreme Court of Appeal in Pretoria is still to announce a date for the hearing of the case.
