THE South Coast Bass Association (SCBA) held its monthly fish-off on Sunday September 10 on a private farm dam in Oribi.

While the fish were small and only 23 fish made it to the weigh station, about a 100 bass were caught and 12 club anglers competed.

Champion angler that walked away with the cash prize was Boet Stewart for his bass weighing 1.9kg. He also scored points towards the annual championships hosted by the club.

Organisers said the event was an overall good fishing day.

“The weather was wonderful and fishing was good. The SCBA strictly practice catch and release so all bass has been returned alive and well,” said club angler Manus Erasmus.

“Chairman Anthony Card is hard at work to put in place a system to promote large mouth bass as a species on the South Coast for generations to come,” said Erasmus.
