Another person robbed of ‘car money’

2017-12-08 06:00

FOLLOWING the story about the Kokstad woman who was robbed of R16 000 by a man who promised to sell her a car that was advertised on the internet, another person has come forward with a similar story.

A 26-year-old man has opened a case after he was defrauded of R28 000 for a car that also advertised on the internet.

It is reported the 26 year old saw a Toyota Yaris advertisement on Facebook and contacted the seller via FB, who told him to deposit R12 500 into his [seller] bank account.

The seller then wanted an R12 500, for “car insurance” and an additional R3 000 to “fix the car radio”, which was deposited into his account.

When it came time for the buyer to get delivery of his car, the seller didn’t answer calls to his cellphone.

A case of fraud has been opened at Kokstad Police Station.

SAPS spokesman Dumisani Ncongo said no one has been arrested. - Supplied.
