MANY young girls from poor families miss days at school every month because they cannot afford sanitary towels, however, Kokstad artist Anele Kondile wants that to end and has collected sanitary towels for the disadvantaged girls.

After visiting some schools, he was told that some girls use newspaper instead of sanitary towels.

“I decided to collect sanitary towels to help the young girls who come from poor families because it hurts me to see young girls in this situation.

“I love education and don’t want pupils to miss this opportunity of getting an education,” said Kondile.

He also collected uniform and will distribute them to schools that have many pupils who come from poor homes.

He identified six schools in Matatiele and nine in Kokstad.

“Many pupils from rural villages are raised by grannies who depend on social grants, and they battle to buy school uniforms for their grandchildren. My aim is to make pupils look good at school despite their poor backgrounds.”

Last year he donated uniforms to 10 Nomzamo Primary pupils and 30 to Ibisi Secondary pupils, and thanked the sponsors that supported his campaign.
