Arts festival preparations under way

PREPARATIONS are under way for the October­ Kokstad Arts Festival, which is to attract people talented in design, poetry and fashion, among other things.

On Wednesday young people who are to showcase their talent at the festival attended a photo shoot in preparation for the festival.
Organisor Mzolisi Khumalo, known as Che-Aluta from Afreecan Khonsirps, said the festival will bring African unity among the people of Kokstad.

“Kokstad has different groups of people that will be given an opportunity to embrace their culture at the festival.
“My goal is to see unity among the people of Kokstad.”

The festival will feature cultures, including Mpondo, Xhosa, Zulu, Sotho, Indian, Griquas and many more.

Mihlali Jojo (20), a young Kokstad poet, is one who will show her skills at the event.
