SCORES of people showed up for the inaugural South Coast beach picnic at St Michael’s beach on Saturday.

While the event was a treat for local music fans, patrons came from all over the country to enjoy live music.

Starting off the star-studded line-up was traditional artist Phuzekemisi and his group of dancers. His performance was followed by house music duo Major League and a string of other renowned deejays.

The much-loved Afro-pop musician Sjava had the crowd singing along to his songs.

Other performances came from local songbird Naima Kay, Destruction Boys, Babes Wodumo, Madanon and Mafikizolo, among others.

Also in attendance were representatives from Ray Nkonyeni Municipality, including spokesperson Simon April and the mayor, Nomusa Mqwebu.

Organiser and owner of Eyadini, Jabulani Zama, said the event was a success.

“I wanted to entertain people from my home town for a change. As Eyadini, we always entertain people from all over the country and this time around I wanted to bring it back to where I was raised,” said Zama.
