THE inaugural South Coast Bike Festival was a huge success after Ugu South Coast Tourism and Wozani Africa took over the event from previous organiser, Harley-Davidson.

The festival began on Thursday April 27 and ended on Sunday, April 30. The event included bike shows, a mass ride, music by various artists and off-road enduro competitions.

Vicky Wentzel of Wozani Africa said the event went extremely well with over 60 000 registrations online and on-site throughout the weekend.

She said this was beyond their expectations.

“Over 60 biking club presidents were present at our alliance meeting which we held on Saturday, representing over 700 biking groups. All the presidents said they were happy with the event as it was well organised.”

She thanked the community for supporting the event and welcomed visitors.

“We would also like to thank Ray Nkonyeni Municipality and Ugu District Municipality for their support.

“They did everything to assist us wherever they could, especially the mayor and municipal manager who were on call doing whatever was required of them,” said Wentzel.
