A MEETING on the upcoming South Coast Bike Festival (SCBF) 2018 was held last Wednesday at Senzi’s On Fire in Margate.

The aim was to inform the public, ratepayers and stakeholders of the state of readiness of this year’s event. SCBF is set to take place from April 27 to 30.

There are a few changes on entries to the festival. Last year, the public was not charged any fee but had to pre-register online for entry tickets.

This year, the non-biker public will be charged a fee of R60 per day to enter the event precinct.

Wozani Africa’s Vicky Wentzel said the decision to have a charge was taken after a public survey was done last year and requests were made to rather have a charge for entries instead of having a charge for access to the main stage.

“We decided R60 a day is a fair charge, giving full access to the three main beach festival stages, beach-front boulevard themed bars, street entertainment, demo rides, trader and expo zones, stunt shows, food courts, EnduroX staging arenas and all associated motorcycle enthusiast festival activations, including the ever-popular mass ride,” said Wentzel.

She said an application has been made for a medium-risk event and a plan is in place.

However, a security provider still needs to be appointed. Traffic management was also discussed and a plan is in place. Wentzel said no taxis will have access to Marine Drive for the duration of the festival. “Tickets are already available on Quicket and to have access to the #fuelyourfun VIP Golden circle at the main beach, tickets are R150 per night. Visit for all ticket purchases.”
