INDIGENOUS valleys, trees and rolling hills at the Buddhist Retreat Centre outside Ixopo have attracted many tourists and pupils who visit to “find inner peace”.

The retreat was discovered many years ago and has accommodation for visitors.

On July 6 and 7 pupils from Lusiba Primary in Ixopo visited to learn more about it.
They were taught how to paint T-shirts, decorate mirrors using sea shells and plant trees.
They also put up messages on indigenous trees.

Pupils were accompanied by members of an Ixopo production company - Ezakithi Production - who went to the retreat to film a documentary.
“The place is attractive to many and I want people to know about it and come and experience it,” said the Ezakithi Production founder, Hlengiwe Nkabane.

Nkabane said her company is to do a documentary on former Ixopo High School teacher, Alan Paton.
