BULWER United FC supporters were overwhelmed when the team played a successful game against Eastern Rangers FC during a decider game that was played at Umzimkhulu Turf last Sunday.

Bulwer United defeated Eastern Rangers 8-7 on penalties.

In the first half, Bulwer United scored two goals, however, Eastern Rangers came up strong in the second half and scored three goals and the last goals was placed in the net by Bulwer United striker Mabandla Madonda.

Both teams played to a 3-3 draw on the field and when they went to penalties, Bulwer United won 8-7.

“Eastern Rangers is one of the strongest teams in Harry Gwala District but we managed to win. It was our wish to win the game,” said Bulwer United coach Victor Mncwabe.

The teams were playing under the South African Breweries (SAB) Harry Gwala District South African Football League games, which were opened last year.

The league was closed last week after several teams from Harry Gwala District competed.

Bulwer United played 18 games in the league, lost four and had two draws since the league was opened.

From today until Sunday, Bulwer United will be representing Harry Gwala District at the provincial play-offs in Vryheid. “We have trained very hard to win the play-offs and we have made our defence stronger for the preparations of the play-off games,” said Mncwabe.
