Business woman motivates pupils

BUSINESS woman, Noma Gigaba encouraged pupils to focus on their studies at a career exhibition event held in Jozana Senior Secondary School in Umzimkhulu on Thursday.

The event was hosted by Presslive, a youth development company in Umzimkhulu.

Gigaba who is the founder of Noma Gigaba Foundation and a wife to Minister of Home Affairs Malusi Gigaba was born in Umzimkhulu. Gigaba said that she was overwhelmed when she received an invitation to speak to the youth of

“To succeed in life, people must not fear challenges. Pupils must study to pass with flying colours. My wish is to see all of you [pupils] achieving your dreams in life,” said Gigaba speaking to the more than 1 000 pupils who attended the event. Some government departments that attended the event included departments such as home affairs, labour, and environmental affairs, and the Umzimkhulu Municipality, Road Accident Fund as well as several private companies also attended. The University of KwaZulu-Natal and other colleges distributed pamphlets to pupils to assist them with career guidance. The founder of
Presslive Philani Dlamini, said that the event was hosted to encourage pupils to pass June exams because universities will require their June results when applying for next year.

“Last year, we hosted this kind of an event at Ntsikeni High School and many pupils were assisted in choosing the right careers. This year, I decided to invite Gigaba to motivate pupils about their future,” said Dlamini.
