AS part of celebrating Youth Day, people from Kokstad and surrounds will be showing support for their favourite football and netball clubs competing at Ntobeko Mavuka Soccer and Netball Tournament tomorrow (Saturday).

Many football and netball teams from Kokstad will be participating in the tournament hosted by Harry Gwala District Municipality councillor Ntobeko Mavuka.

Speaking to the Fever, Mavuka said the tournament will form part of celebrating Youth Month and is aimed at bringing joy to young people.

He said many sponsors have shown support for the tournament and, in addition to the trophies and medals, there would be many prizes to be won.

“The first prize in the football category is R20 000, R7 000 for second prize winners and R3 000 for third place,” said Mavuka.

Greater Kokstad Netball Association chairperson Berberto Mnikina said nine junior netball teams and eight senior teams will be participating.

He said R3 000 will be given to the first place winner among the netball teams with the second place winner receiving a R1 000 reward.

A gala dinner will be held, on Sunday evening, where football legends that have played a significant role in the development of sports and recreation in Kokstad will be honoured.
