THE Fullness of Christ Ministries International celebrated its 10-year anniversary over the weekend. More than 500 congregants and community members attended the event at an Oval cricket ground on Saturday.

Church founder Bishop Mthokozisi Gama said the church started in 2006 with only a few members, but since then has grown to more than 900 members.
“In 2006 we held services at an old clinic building in Bongweni which was donated to us by the municipality. It was not easy at the time and as a result other church members in Kokstad spread lies that my church is only about taking money, but now it has grown and people are supporting is.”

The church pays R25 000 a month rent.

“The rent hinders our development programmes, for example, adopting high schools, giving bursaries, and contributing to community projects. “We need a site where we can build our own church, have a sports facility and rooms where educational programmes can be held.”

The Greater Kokstad Municipality speaker Zolani Mhlongo said churches that have no sites will be assisted by them.

“There are sites that are set aside for places of worship to hold services every Sunday.”

Chairperson of Kokstad Council of Churches, Mbuyiswa Nocanda, said Kokstad churches reduce crime by educating people about God.
