GRANDMOTHERS from Kokstad, Mount Ayliff and Ntabankulu were given groceries by Christ Embassy congregants as part of celebrating the birthday of the church’s founder, Pastor Chris, last Friday.

At the handover in Kokstad, 20 grannies sang as they received groceries and thanked the church.

MaMpinga Somyalo (75), one of the recipients, said Christmas is going to be pleasant for her grandchildren. Neighbours Nomvana Njenje (97), and Ntombenkulu Noqhekwa (75), thanked God and wished the best for the church. Pastor Themba Somdaka said the vision of the church is to give to the needy.

“The founder of the church Pastor Chris wanted congregants to celebrate his birthday by doing community work and help the poor.

“Last year, the church donated food parcels to the children’s place of safety in Kokstad and our plan is to help many families and keep the vision of Pastor Chris alive by helping needy people,” said Somdaka, adding there is a blessing in giving.

Lunch was served by congregants who called for people do the same and show love for the elderly.
