TO celebrate Human Rights Day, Kokstad cleric and TV presenter, Shaik Phiri and Dumisani Dlamini donated clothes to 70 people in the Marikana area in the Kokstad area on Tuesday.

Many people in the area are unemployed and depend on social grants to survive.

Phiri didn’t attend any Human Rights Day events, he instead reached out to those less fortunate.

“As we approach winter I want people of Marikana to be warm like other people.

“I also want people who can afford it to follow in my footsteps to donate to the poor.”

He said people must think about the needy before throwing away food.

“On Saturdays I give groceries to the needy in Mphela, Horseshoe, Bongweni and Shayamoya.”

Dlamini said he would like the lives of people in Marikana to improve because they don’t have water, proper housing or sanitation.
