KOKSTAD supporters of Orlando Pirates club have established a structure to promote football and to keep young people off drugs and alcohol.

Wearing the club’s regalia, the team held their first meeting at Kokstad Regional Centre on Sunday, September 16 and addressed ways to develop young footballers. One of the suggestions was to host football tournaments every weekend so that young people would be encouraged to play sport instead of using drugs and alcohol.

Dumisani Dlamini was elected as chairperson, Vuyani Jaca deputy chairperson, Mini Juqu secretary, Noyise Mofana deputy secretary and Fezile Khumalo was elected as treasurer. Linda Mangumta, Eric Ntombela and Fuzile Khumalo were elected as organisers.

Commenting on the elected members, Dlamini said they will be partnering with local schools to promote sport.

“We will do build-up programmes just to bring all supporters of the club together to achieve one goal.

“The establishment of a sport academy in Kokstad will be on the list of our priorities,” he said.
