Congratulations to the Class of 2017

2018-01-19 06:00

THE Greater Kokstad Municipality Youth Council congratulates the matric Class of 2017, and after many years of hard work, resilience and dedication pupils finally got an introductory step towards realising their goals.

Council congratulate Kokstad College for achieving a 100% pass rate. As we take our hats off to Kokstad College we also acknowledge the effort put in by high schools in and around Kokstad. We note the conditions that some of our high schools are operating under and hope for the better this year.

As the youth council we congratulate those who have passed and assure them that the sky is the limit.

At all times they have to take pride in the achievement they have made.

Former President Nelson Mandela once said: “Education is the key to success.”

Our government is doing everything in its power to ensure the delivery of free quality education in line with the clause stipulated in the Freedom Charter that says “Doors of learning shall be open to all.”

We appeal to these minds to take this opportunity and prioritise education as they are the future of our beloved society.

To those who did not make it must not despair because there is still a light at the end of the tunnel. They should make use of the second options provided by the government.

It would be amiss of us if we don’t give words of gratitude to teachers, school management team, SGB, parents and stakeholders who toiled with these pupils.

As the Greater Kokstad Municipality Youth Council we state we value the future of our young people and commit to play a leading role in transforming education and managing behavioural patterns of pupils and teachers.

The society of Kokstad has noted the deteriorating conditions in some schools, particularly Carl Malcomess High and as change agents we are going to be part of the solution. We are not going to be bystanders in a game we should be playing.

We are looking forward to good working relations with stakeholders and warn it is going to be a bumpy ride because success comes after struggle.

To the Class of 2018, let us toil together and make education fashionable.
