PUPILS who, on a regular basis, go to school without wearing warm jerseys touched the hearts of members of Cing’ba Construction and Project Management who decided to offer their support.

On Monday, founding members of the company, who were born and bred in Kokstad, donated 30 warm jerseys to Nonkqubela Primary School pupils.

They also assisted a Grade 3, 10-year-old pupil, who was wearing old trousers and shoes, by buying him new uniform.

Founding members of the company Andile, Olwethu, Xolisa Jojo and Mkhumbuleni Matta were accompanied by Greater Kokstad Youth Development Officer Samkele Stone Nondize when they visited the school.

“We have observed that many pupils go to school without warm jerseys during winter and we have collected funds to help keep pupils warm in schools,” Andile said.

He said they want to reach a large number of pupils in Kokstad.

“Last year, we hosted the Back to Kokstad event and we collected proceeds for our school support programme. We have donated 30 school shoes to underprivileged children at the Khanyiselani Children’s Centre in Kokstad this year and there are many schools that we want to reach,” he added.

Nonkqubela Primary principal Nomajoni Boyce said many pupils came from poor families and needed support.

Parent Gcotyiswa Maliwa thanked the company members for lending a helping hand to pupils. “I want to encourage young people who have companies and businesses around Kokstad to follow in the footsteps of the Cing’ba Company. There are many children who require assistance in Kokstad,” said Nondize.
