ESIFOLWENI Junior Secondary school at Mzongwana administrative area, near Matatiele, was broken into and school equipment was burnt last Friday. Police­ spokesperson Captain Raphael Motloung said a case of malicious damage to property had been opened at Afsondering police station.

“It is alleged that the school principal locked his school on Friday at about 3pm. On Sunday, at about 2pm, he was notified by a security guard that the staffroom door was opened and the property burnt inside and the main door damaged,” said Motloung.

Motloung said two computers, five tables, five chairs, two generators, one laptop, work books and school reports of pupils were reportedly burnt. He said no arrests had yet been made.

Motloung asked anyone with information to come forward to the police.

Maluti K-9 Unit members apprehended a drug dealer in possession of tik on Tuesday. Captain Motloung said the suspect was apprehended at Itsokolele after they received a tip-off about the drugs.

“We tracked down one vehicle and searched it. While searching we found 114 straws of tik in the rear door passenger panel. We also found five packets of tik inside the steering wheel,” said Motloung.

Motloung said they proceeded to the home of the accused where they confiscated an undisclosed amount of money.

Motloung added that the 41-year-old man confessed to the police that the drugs had just arrived from Cape Town.

The accused is reportedly facing charges of dealing and being in possession of drugs. He appeared in court on Wednesday.
