LAST Friday, Harding residents and shoppers were happy to see police officers conducting a crime prevention operation in the area.
The police were searching for illegal weapons at the taxi rank and taverns and people on the street were stopped and searched.

SAPS Port Shepstone, traffic officers, the K9 unit and Tactical Response Team (TRT) also participated.
Deputy cluster commander, Brigadier Bongani Sibiya from Ugu Policing Cluster was in command of the operation with Lieutenant-Colonel Armstrong Machi from Harding Vispol acting as operational officer.

Many arrests were made including those found in possession of dagga and driving under the influence of alcohol.
During the operation, 13 dagga plants were discovered in the yard of a panel beating business and two men were charged for it.

Crates of beer and 159 parcels of dagga were seized in two separate taverns and two men were charged. A man was charged for being in possession of a dangerous weapon and another for having no licence disc on his vehicle.

Brigadier Sibiya expressed satisfaction with the arrests and conveyed his appreciation to all law enforcement officers that participated in the operation. - Supplied.
