LOCAL cyclists are invited to participate in the San Lameer Estates MTB Trail on February 18.

San Lameer marketing and liaison co-ordinator Jolanda Cloete said the estate has its own mountain-bike trail on site which will be open to the public from 8 am that day.

She said for R70, people can enjoy a ride on the trial as well as a mini breakfast and a cappuccino. “The MTB trail was built and completed in January 2016.

“This trail was built entirely by San Lameer Estate through J.A Landscapes. The trail is graded as intermediate with a Blue Square according to International Trail Marking standards, and has been designed for the whole family to enjoy,” said Cloete

She said the main trail is made up of seven inter-leading trails with a total distance of seven kilometres and takes about 30 to 50 minutes per lap to complete, depending on your pace.

“The entire loop of the trail takes in seven sections of inter-linking single track, consisting of about five kilometres of single track and two kilometres of paved and gravel road.

“The trail is used and enjoyed mainly by our homeowners, guests and visitors.

“However, we have decided to open our trail from time to time, out of season, for open-day events and participation by members of local cycling clubs and the local community to come and ride our trail, as our local riders are important to us,” she said.

Tickets to participate can be purchased at Giant store in Southcoast Mall, Shelly Beach and for more details, the store can be contacted at 039 315 0058 or San Lameer Estate at 039 313 0111.
