THE Alfred Nzo District Municipality netball team was overjoyed when they won five games at the Southern African Inter Municipal Sport Association (SAIMSA) games in Swaziland on September 22.

The team’s coach, Phezile Gamede, said games were played by 60 teams from countries in the southern African region. He said 23 teams from South Africa participated in the games.

“After winning the first games, the team was promoted to the quarter-finals and lost in the semi-finals to the eThekwini Metro netball team.

“The team, which started competing in the SAIMSA games four years ago, won bronze medals,” said Gamede.

He thanked the team managers and players for their success and the municipal management for supporting the team. He said their ambition is to work hard to reach the finals at the next SAIMSA games.
