THE Department of Education’s drive to change dilapidated rural schools into new schools in Matatiele has brought happiness to many Nyaniso Senior Secondary pupils after new classrooms were handed over on March 23.

The state-of-the-art school is worth R6 million and the community were employed during its construction.

The school has a science laboratory, a computer laboratory, a media centre, rain-water harvesting tanks, a nutrition centre and an administration block with offices and a staff room for teachers.
Nomasomi Mshuqwana, speaker of Matatiele Municipality and Maluti district director of the Department of Education, Lungile Mthatyana are pleased that pupils are now enjoying the new classrooms.

On March 16, the Department of Education opened MvenyaneSenior Secondary worth R91 million.
The school has a computer laboratory, new classrooms, a science laboratory, a library and a nutrition centre. A hostel to accommodate 320 female pupils was also built.

Mthatyana said the department is investing more than R316 million for the refurbishment of old schools and to build new ones.
