ON Monday afternoon a huge hailstorm flooded rivers and damaged many cars in Kokstad.
The bridge that connects

Coulter Street
to the CBD and

Township was under water and people spent hours trying to get across after the storm had passed, but the water was too fast-moving.

A Horseshoe resident, Victor Ngcaweni said water flooded his RDP house and even wet his bed and furniture. “My bed and sofas are wet and I am now sleeping at my neighbour’s house.”

Another community member, Mawethu Nocanda blamed municipality for not putting in drains in the area.
The Greater Kokstad Municipal spokesperson Sabelo Ncwane said the only serious cases reported were about trees that had fallen down in some areas.

SAPS spokesperson Captain Dumisani Ncongo warned people not to cross raging rivers.
