THE family of the murdered former Ward 11 ANC branch chairperson and Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma Municipal employee, Nathi Ngcobo (46), wants swift action by police to catch his killers.

Ngcobo, from Hlanganani village in Bulwer, was shot dead by unknown men not far from Hlanganani Secondary on Monday evening.

His sister Sithandiwe said Ngcobo was the breadwinner at home.

Ngcobo reportedly went home after work and then went to his girlfriend’s place at 8pm. Along the way he was apparently approached by unknown men who shot him three times and he died at the scene.

“My brother was a humble person. Since he joined the ruling party he never spoke of being targeted because of political divisions,” said Sithandiwe.

She asked police to make quick arrests and that the court must give them harsh sentences.

Ngcobo had been the secretary of the Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma Municipality executive committee from June last year.

Mayor Ngeneleni Mncwabe said Ngcobo was a dedicated employee, who loved his work.

“I am calling on law enforcement agencies to ensure justice is served and bring the killers to book. I convey condolences to his family, friends, colleagues and the community.”

He is survived by two sons and siblings.
