HORSESHOE residents want government to erect a fence along the river next to where they live to prevent people, especially children, getting close to it or falling in.

This after four-year-old Simthandile Sabisa’s body was found in it on Monday morning.

Simthandile disappeared on Sunday afternoon and her body was found by community members after a comprehensive search.

When Fever visited Simthandile’s mother Vuyiswa, neighbours were giving her moral support and praying for her.

“My child was playing with other children when she disappeared, but I am relieved to find her body,” said Vuyiswa.

The unemployed Vuyiswa asked people to help her bury her child.

Community members, Nomgqibelo Ngejane and Nondumiso Xaki asked government to erect a fence next to the river because children are at risk.

SAPS spokesperson Captain Dumisani Ncongo confirmed the incident and said an inquest docket was opened.
