FRANKLIN High matrics promised to achieve good year-end results at a farewell hosted by the school last Friday.

The event was attended by Department of Education officials, parents and community members. This year, the school has 94 matriculants and is targeting a 65% pass rate. Last year it was 38%.

Principal Aubrey Mbutho said teachers have put in an extra effort to assist pupils in mathematics, agriculture and physical science after many pupils failed last year.

“In June the school received a 59% pass rate. Pupils are attending afternoon classes from 3pm to 6pm and weekend classes to prepare for final exams.”

He said this year’s syllabus has been completed and pupils are revising previous question papers. On October 17, the school will host a prayer day for matrics before they write their final exams.
