MANDELA’S dream of giving back to the poor was fulfilled after Ixopo Avbob staff handed out 35 blankets to elderly people in Siwa Development Centre in Umzimkhulu on Tuesday. It also donated a computer and plants.

The centre is a home for the elderly, disabled and vulnerable people and orphans and homeless children. It was established in 2003 by Nomonde Mavuma from Umzimkhulu.
Avbob branch manager Siviwe Magabuko from Ixopo said the centre was identified as a needy place by a staff member and they visited it to see for themselves.

“In 2015 we donated garden tools and groceries to the centre. This year we again helped because it doesn’t get a government grant.”

Magabuko said Avbob will visit other places to fulfill Mandela’s dream of giving.
The founder of the centre, Nomonde Mavuma thanked Avbob for visiting her centre and gave a certificate of appreciation to Digby Lazel and Cain Matsa from Avbob.
