GKM VIEWPOINT

2018-06-15 06:00

WARM greetings to the Kokstad community and the community at large.

HEAVY LOADS MAIN FACTOR IN CURRENT ELECTRICAL OUTAGES

The Greater Kokstad Municipality (GKM) is currently experiencing electricity outage due to the heavy load the main power station is experiencing.

Due to the change of weather, electricity usage is very high and the capacity of the power station is not coping with the demand.

The municipality is busy with the repairs and installation of more feeders.

Communities are advised that there will be a power interruptions, in a form of load shedding from June 5 to June 9.

The situation is expected to be resolved on June 9.

We humbly apologise for the inconvenience suffered in this regard.

A proper load shedding plan will be communicated by the end of this week.

COUNCILLORS AND MANAGEMENT STRATEGIC PLANNING FOR POLICY REVIEW

The GKM held a three day policy review workshop from June 4 to June 6. The management team and councillors deliberated at length on a number of policies where amendments were necessary as well as on new policies.

This was done in preparation for the new financial year budget implementation.

The main objectives of the session was to discuss the changes and improvements made on all municipal policies that will guide and regulate the operations processes within the municipality.

SKILLS CENTRE OPERATIONS

Greater Kokstad Municipality Mayor Bheki Mtolo made a promise, during the launch of the skills centre, that the municipality will work very closely with the Department of Education in realising the purpose of building the skills centre.

The municipality has organised a session with the Department of Higher Education on the matter.

The mayor will soon be meeting with the deputy minister, Buti

Manamela, to discuss the matter.

We will keep the community updated on the developments relating to the skills centre facility

Thank you for lending me your eyes and ears. Until will meet again, same time, same place!
