WARM greetings to stakeholders of Kokstad and the entire community.

I would like to take this opportunity to convey my gratitude for your patience and understanding when the municipality announced that there are challenges that we are facing with regards to the mid-block roads, and that we will pause until such issues are resolved. It is a great pleasure to inform you that a new contractor, by the name of Akwande Civils cc, and TLS Engineers have been appointed to continue with the project. A meeting with the contractor has been scheduled for Thursday 21, June 2018, where they will be taken through to all sites. The contractor is anticipated to start working on site from next week and the duration of the project is six months. We regret the inconvenience suffered in this regard.

The municipality is to host its council meeting on June 28, which is open to everyone who might be interested. Among the issues that will be discussed are the Tabling of Audit Committee Report, MPAC Report, and adoption of reviewed policies.

Community members are invited to come and observe the proceedings of the council sitting, and be in a position to get information on progress made by the municipality.

The Greater Kokstad Municipality will be celebrating Youth Day on June 22, under the theme #LiveTheLegacy as we are in the centenary year of Nelson Mandela and Albertina Sisulu.

The programme starts with a march in support and celebration of the 1976 youth efforts, starting at the central park and ending at Bongweni Youth Centre, where the celebration will be held. The Greater Kokstad Mayor Cllr BM Mtolo will deliver his keynote address.

The mayor will also be handing over 176 certificates to Hygiene and Cleaning Learnership beneficiaries. The learnership is part of the programmes that are funded by Services SETA to benefit the Youth of Kokstad. Young people in and around Kokstad are invited to participate in the celebrations of Youth Day with the municipality.

Thank you for lending me your eyes and ears will meet again same time, same place.
