Kindly be advised that there is a planned power interruption for the Kokstad sub-station on Tuesday, July 24 from 5 am to 10 pm.

Should there be poor weather conditions, or other circumstances, interrupting the outage it will be rescheduled to July 31 at the same time.

We urge the community, those that are able, to please share the word within the community so that people can prepare themselves and make arrangements prior to the date.

The National Parliament will hold a public hearing on July 21 at the Town Hall.

This emanates from the meeting held on February 27 by the National Assembly to review section 25 of the Constitution of South Africa.

The community is urged to come share their views and participate.

This is the call made by the National Assembly and was further emphasised by the President of Republic of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa during the budget speech in February 2018.

Those who are unable to make it to the hearing on Saturday can share their views and direct them to Ms P Jayiya at the Joint Committee on Constitutional Review.

Their address is the third floor, 90 Plein Street, Cape Town 8000, or e-mail pjayiya@parliament.gov.za or call 021 403 3661, 081 441 0345 or fax 086 453 6485. It is vital that we all participate in this process to help make parliament make an informed decision. Your views are crucial.

The municipality has managed to reach an important project milestone which is the practical completion on a number of projects. • Rehabilitation of Kokstad Roads Phase 7 – this project was for the rehabilitation of 1.8 km of existing road, which was Dower Street from Main Street to Bhongweni.

This project also includes the upgrading of the existing storm water drainage system in order to prevent flooding when it rains.

• Upgrading of Existing Roads in Extension 7 – this project was for the upgrading of 1.5 km of existing gravel roads to asphalt surface.

The storm water drainage system was also upgraded in order to minimise the risk of flooding to the properties in the area.

• Small Town Rehabilitation Project – the project was for the upgrading of 2.3 km existing roads in CBD, which was Main and Groom Street, and the construction period was 12 months.

The project scope included localised pothole patching, storm water drainage, asphalt overlay and road marking.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the residents for your patience during the construction of the projects. I know there were inconveniences here and there but you tolerated them until the projects were complete.

Thank you for taking time to read this issue.

Let’s meet again same time same place!
