WARM greetings to the Kokstad community and community at large.

PRESIDENTIAL SERVICE DELIVERY VISIT A HUGE SUCCESS

On October 3, the president of the Republic of South Africa, President Cyril Ramaphosa, visited Kokstad. He was accompanied by Minister Malusi Gigaba of Home Affairs and Minister Nomaindiya Mfeketo of Human Settlements.

The purpose of the Presidential visit was to issue tittle deeds to owners of the low cost houses in Franklin and also to officially open the new Home Affairs offices.

The event was also graced by the presence of the MEC Sihle Zikalala and the Mayor of the Harry Gwala District Municipality Cllr Mluleki Ndobe.

When addressing the community, President Ramaphosa mentioned the Job Summit that he will be attending with business and other stakeholders as they are trying to find ways of creating more jobs, especially for the benefit of young people of South Africa who are qualified but unemployed.

He further assured the Kokstad community that government is taking care of the land question.

President Ramaphosa applauded the Greater Kokstad Municipality, under the leadership of the Mayor Cllr BM Mtolo, for showing determination and commitment to serve the Kokstad community with the dignity they deserve.

Four hundred title deeds are ready to be issued to home owners. The president issued only 10 and the Mayor of the Greater Kokstad Municipality Cllr BM Mtolo will issue the 390 remaining.

I would like to take this opportunity once again to be thankful for the Intergovernmental relations showed during the preparations of this event.

The Department of Home Affairs, National and Provincial;the Department of Human settlement, National and Provincial; the Harry Gwala District Municipality; and the Greater Kokstad Municipality is ensuring that we deliver to our community.

APOLOGY FOR TEMPORAL BREAK DOWN OF SERVICES AT THE VEHICLE AND DRIVERS TESTING CENTRE

The municipal vehicle and drivers testing station experienced temporal breakdown of services due to a damaged cable (Telkom Line).

We apologise to our customers for the inconvenience suffered in this regard. The lines have now been restored and all services are now rendered in their full capacity.

KICKABOUT (PRACTICING GROUND) AT WARD 1

The municipality is in the process of constructing practicing grounds in areas that do not have practicing grounds; the focus is on soccer and netball for now, as they are the most popular sports in our wards.

This endeavour has started in Ward One with the construction of soccer and netball practicing grounds and it will further extended to other wards in due course.

Until next time…
