WARM greetings to the Kokstad community and community at large. DISRUPTION OF SERVICES AT GKM TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT Due to strike action that was experienced by DLCA (Driving License Card Authority), which is a component of the National Department of Transport responsible for driving license card production, we have also been adversely affected. In some cases, applicants who had applied for new driving license cards in April are yet to receive their cards. The situation was further aggravated by another strike at the South African Post Office. The situation is receiving abrupt attention and the DLCA is being engaged on a continuous basis in order to ensure that the problem is resolved expediently. My sincere apologies for the delays and inconvenience being suffered in this regard.NEW APPOINTMENTS It is with great pleasure that I announce once more the appointment of new staff members. Godfrey Gwagwa has been appointed as Manager Electrical. He commenced his duties on October 1. Gwagwa is not new in the municipality, as he was previously employed as assistant manager electrical. Thobeka Thandeka Sokhulu was appointed as internal Audit Officer and she also commenced her duties on October 1. We welcome both of them to the GKM family, hoping their expertise will take this municipality forward. IDP ROADSHOWS Kokstad residents are kindly invited to attend community meetings where municipal council will be conducting the Integrated Development Plan (IDP) Roadshows. The purpose of the roadshow is to give the community of Kokstad and stakeholders an opportunity to prioritise their needs in preparation of service delivery projects for the 2019/20 financial year as per section 34 of the Municipal Systems Act no 32 of 2000. The table on the right provides the schedule of meetings that will take place from October 16 to October 23.
