WARM greetings to the Kokstad community and community at large. WILLOWDALE HOUSING PROJECT The Mayor of the Greater Kokstad Municipality, Cllr BM Mtolo, on November 14 handed over a contractor appointed to build RDP houses in Willowdale Farm, Ward 6, in Kokstad. The project involves the construction of 83 RDP houses which will benefit 83 families in that area. This project is anticipated to take 16 months. It will create a number of temporary jobs for local people, and transfer skills of bricklaying, plastering, and carpentry. The joy and hope was written all over the beneficiaries faces when the Mayor was addressing them. RECOGNITION OF TRADITIONAL LEADERS AND TRADITIONAL COMMUNITIES WORKSHOPAs a sphere of government closer to the people we have an obligation to ensure peace and stability in our communities, for that reason building a united and peaceful environment is one of our responsibilities. The greater Kokstad leadership hosted a workshop on the recognition of traditional leaders and traditional communities on November 15 at Bhongweni Youth Centre. The purpose of the workshop was to ensure that all Kokstad community members who feel they deserve to be recognised as traditional leaders, and traditional communities, get the correct information on laws and regulations that guide traditional leadership and the processes and procedures to be followed before one can be recognised by the Premier. I hope our stakeholders and community leaders now have the relevant information that they require moving forward in dealing with traditional leadership issues in Kokstad.
