THE family of 15-year-old Nkanyezi Mncwabe are in a state of shock after his body was found hanging from a tree on Monday. It is suspected he committed suicide.
SAPS have opened an inquest docket.
Nkanyezi had finished his final Grade 9 exams at Carl Malcomess High last week.
SAPS spokesman Captain Dumisani Ncongo confirmed that Nkanyezi’s body was found hanging with a rope around his neck at 5am.
There were no other visible injuries. His body was taken to a government mortuary for a postmortem.
His mother Bongiwe said her son was last seen on Sunday night when he went out without telling her where he was going.
“On Sunday he was happy, he played with his siblings and had supper in the evening and there were no signs that something was wrong.
“I am concerned about why he killed himself,” she said.
He wanted to become an attorney and loved playing softball and table tennis.
A relative Mazibula Ndevu, showed Fever the tree where his body was found.
She said Nkanyezi was loyal and humble and had a great sense of humour and what he has done is “unbelievable”.
