GREETINGS to the people of Kokstad.

Grass cutting and IDP representative forum

The Greater Kokstad Municipality has received complaints from the community regarding grass cutting along our roads, including Jabavu Street in Shayamoya.

The municipality has appointed a service provider to do grass cutting all over Kokstad. I encourage the community to report any challenges that has to do with grass cutting to the municipality, ward committees and councillors.

As the municipality we are prepared to service our community to the best of our ability. Still on the note of service delivery the municipality invites stakeholders to the IDP representative forum on 22 March.

During this session stakeholders and the municipality present progress on projects in the 2016/17 IDP plan, which enables stakeholders to give an analysis and discuss projects and the programme. For information, call Miss Heather Adkins at 039 797 6600 during office hours.

Harry Gwala Marathon

The annual Harry Gwala Marathon will take place on Sunday 20 March. The marathon will start on the side of Umzimkhulu Municipality and finish at Ubuhlebezwe Municipality in Ixopo. The marathon is divided into three categories - 42km, 21km and 10km. The marathon is a Comrades Marathon qualifier with attractive incentives. The Greater Kokstad Municipality wishes all those who will be representing us the best of luck. Please represent us well and bring back medals to Kokstad. More importantly we have a senior manager, a manager and some staff who will be flying our flag high in the same marathon. One manager will be running 42km and the senior manager will run the 21km. I also wish them good luck.

Water crisis continues

Crystal Springs Dam water level is still at 10%, which and shows how serious the situation is. We encourage people, who can afford it, to buy JoJo tanks and harvest water for future use, but make sure you take precautions before drinking the tank water.

God bless Kokstad.
