Greater Kokstad Municipality viewpoint

Outgoing council thanked
GREETINGS to the people of Kokstad.
Voting in the 2016 local government elections marked the end of the term of council that was elected to office in 2011. A new council will be sworn in shortly after the final results by IEC are announced. Council highlighted the achievements in our last briefing last Thursday and what was clear was that the current council had delivered on the mandate given to them by the community.
If you drive around Kokstad you will see new roads, halls, local economic development projects, electricity, water, etc. Most of these things came about because of council and management.
As administration we thank the outgoing council for their oversight role in the municipality. While some times were difficult, while others were interesting. They always demanded the best from us, not or their benefit, but for the community of Kokstad who requested the projects through our IDP process. At the next council meeting we will welcome in the new council for the 2016 to 2021 term. The new council will continue with the same mandate of changing the lives of the people of Kokstad.

Thank you Kokstad people for voting
May I take this opportunity and thank the citizens of Kokstad for making the 2016 local government election successful. By the time you read this most areas will have released the results, especially the small municipalities like ours. Elections are elections because of your participation and it will be an omission if you are not thanked for that.
You exercised your right to choose the government of your choice. That is the democracy that Nelson Mandela fought for and we are lucky to have an opportunity like this. Others died without having it.
Siyaqhuba. Enkosi.
