GREETINGS to the people of Kokstad

Welcoming the new council

The Greater Kokstad Municipality council was sworn in on Wednesday 17 August at Kokstad Town Hall and was attended by stakeholders and the community.

It is my pleasure to introduce Councillor Bheki Mtolo as the new Greater Kokstad Municipality mayor.

He comes with lots of experience having served in the previous term as the deputy mayor as well as a Executive committee member.

As the acting head of administration I welcome him to the office and pledge our support to him. May I also welcome Councillor Karen Jill Walker as the new deputy mayor. She is also not new to council having served in the previous council. I congratulate her and also pledge the management’s support.

Councillor Zolani Mhlongo has returned as speaker and returns with his experience from the previous council. As management we pledge our support to all 19 councillors of Greater Kokstad Municipality and will do our best to implement their decisions.

Council will constitute all council committees and work will start immediately because people want service delivery. Councillors will be taken to an induction session, the date is to be announced soon. The session will empower them with skills that will help them to discharge their mandated responsibilities effectively.

We hope community works with all councillors and gives them the necessary support.

Women’s Month celebrations continue

Women’s Month celebrations are continuing and we pride ourselves in working with powerful ladies in Kokstad. I salute all the influential women in Kokstad and salute them all for changing lives.

Siyaqhuba enkosi.
