Greater Kokstad Municipality viewpoint

2016-10-07 06:00

GREETINGS to the people of Kokstad.
Election posters removal
The Greater Kokstad Municipality has told political parties to adhere to the municipal by-laws on outdoor advertising and remove all their elections posters.
The 2016 local government elections were on 3 August and immediately after elections political parties were supposed to remove all their posters from the town. We have received many complaints from the community about the non-removal of election posters.
The unit responsible for outdoor advertising in the municipality has sent out letters to affected political parties informing them about their breach of the by-law on outdoor advertising.
Those letters must be taken seriously before we impose relevant fines to every poster that is still up. We hope to receive your full co-operation on matter and thank you in advance.

2016/2017 IDP roadshows
The community is invited to be part of the 2016/2017 IDP roadshows starting from 12 October. It is important for the community to be part of this programme because they have to take part in the review of the current IDP, which will see them re-prioritising their needs according to current service delivery needs. This process guarantees that our community takes part in shaping council decisions and we hope our community will attend these meetings and make a positive contribution, which will influence our budgeting process.

Facebook page and website
The Greater Kokstad Municipality encourages the community to “like” our Facebook page - Greater Kokstad Municipality”. It is an interactive page that will allow us to see your messages and we will also post issues on the page. As we move to e-government we want to ensure that those who are technologically minded are not left behind when it comes to our development state, and we apologise to the community for our inactive website.
The IT unit is working hard to rectify the technological challenges and we hope to see it up and running soon.
Siyaqhuba enkosi.
