Greater Kokstad Municipality viewpoint

GREETINGS to the people of Kokstad.
Municipal Sports Day
On Friday 18 November municipal councillors and staff will take part in the Municipal Sports Day. This is an important day on our calendar where councillors and staff get to know each other. It is one of our team-building sessions because a united work force is more powerful in delivering the desired performance.
Three municipalities have so far confirmed they will be part of this occasion. The municipality wants to remind the community about the closure of offices that day.
The Customer Care Unit will be closed and the community is requested to buy electricity from third party vendors like Spar, Pick n Pay, and so on. They are also found in Shayamoya and Bhongweni. Ratepayers can pay for services in places like post office. Council support offices will also be closed and will not issue proof of residence documents. We hope citizens understand the situation on the day.

Election of ward committees
The 14 November is the day when we start with the election of ward committees that will serve as the link between the community, the councillor and the municipality. I emphasised the importance of ward committees last week.
The only thing I ask is the participation of all Kokstad citizens in this democratic process. The dates per ward will be posted in our local media. There will also be other forms of announcing before the day of the each meeting, like loud hailing. I am positive that all the meetings will produce positive results.
Should you require more information regarding this matter, do not hesitate to call Miss Bongekile Mkulisi on 039 797 6636 or email bongekile.mkulisi@kok during office hours.
Siyaqhuba. Enkosi.
