GREETINGS to the people of Kokstad.

GKM Mayor’s 100-day report

The Greater Kokstad Municipality Council has completed 100 days in office, They were sworn in on 17 August. On behalf of council, the mayor has to present the 100-day report to the community, which will indicate the state of the municipality and the things that have been done since they were sworn in.

The report was broadcast on a provincial radio station yesterday and will be published in local newspapers. We are trying to be an accountable and responsive government with improved communication. Please look at our local newspapers next week and see the progress that has been made by the new council.

Road markings in and around town

As I promised the community about the road markings I am pleased to announce that the service provider has started to mark our roads in town. We are pushing them to finish as soon as possible.

We thank the community for being patient while we deal with the supply chain process in this regard. We know it is difficult for road users to driver on unmarked roads.

It also caused congestion in our parking bays because they were not clearly marked. I appeal to the community to be patient with the company that is doing road marking. Sometimes they are forced to close lanes as well as parking bays in order to work properly. Your patience will result in them doing their job on time, without any disruption.

Please save water and save lives

Even though we received some rain recently we are still preaching the gospel of saving water to our community. There is no indication from government that says the drought is over.

Let us assist Harry Gwala District Municipality and the country by saving the little we have until we are out of the current situation. Water is life.

Siyaqhuba ngentuthuko. Enkosi.
