Greater Kokstad Municipality Viewpoint

2017-02-03 06:01

GREETINGS to the people of Kokstad.

Progress on infrastructure projects

The Greater Kokstad Municipality is proud to announce that the construction of community halls promised to the people are progressing well.

The people of Ward 8 will see that their hall is almost finished because the contractor has put on the roof and is doing final touch-ups.

The Ward 4 community hall has already started and the contractor is busy with the foundation. These community halls will be important for the community of these wards as they will hold meeting there as well as functions like weddings, funerals, and so on.

I am also glad to announce that 90 houses have been completed at the KwaMakhoba housing project. As we speak happy letters has been sent to some of the beneficiaries in the presence of the Ward 2 councillor.

The Bhongweni Youth Centre is 100% complete and we have tasked our youth manager to come up with an operational plan that will be followed by the users of the centre.

We have given him a deadline because we want our youth to use their centre as soon as possible. If we say Siyaqhuba this is what we talking about, and going forward we are aiming to finish more projects in order to fulfil the community needs as set down in our IDP.

2016/2017 mid-term budget adjustment

We are busy with our mid-term budget adjustment for the 2016/2017 financial year. We are assessing our targets against our budget to see where can we cut or adjust in order to meet those targets. This exercise will be completed before the end of this month and the mayor will table the adjusted budget to council for adoption. After that it will be published on our website as well as in the local media. Let us keep the ball rolling as we want 2017 to be the year of action in Kokstad.

Nango 2017 sisaqhubeka nokuphuhlisa iKokstad. Enkosi.
